Concerts
All performance classes will perform concerts at the dates and times listed on the calendar. Attendance at all school concerts and out-of-school festivals is mandatory. Students missing a performance will receive no credit for 10% of their quarter grade. Students using school instruments who miss a concert may be required to return the instrument to the school program. Also, out of respect for all of the groups performing at each school concert, we require that all students remain in attendance for the entire concert. We are very careful to plan concerts of a length of approximately an hour. Since we continue to work to develop good concert etiquette and an understanding and appreciation for all ensembles, we ask that you and your family remain for the entire concert. If you are unable to attend please make sure your child is picked up promptly after rehearsals and performances.
Concert dress is required at all concerts. Concert dress is a white front-buttoning shirt, black pants, and dark shoes and socks/hose. Tennis shoes or sneakers are unacceptable. Bow ties and cummerbunds will be provided for every member for each concert. The goal of consistent dress is to focus attention on the group as a whole, avoid visual distractions, and be appropriate for the setting.
The next concerts are January 8th and 9th at Ellicott Mills Middle School
The orchestral and choral groups will be performing on the 8th in the cafetorium:
Concert Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir
The bands will be performing on the 9th in the gym:
Concert Band, Symphonic Band
