Rich Roberts: Band, Wind and Percussion Instruments

Rich Roberts has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Murray State University, a Master of Education degree from Towson University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Horn performance and pedagogy from the University of Maryland, College Park.  His teachers include David Elliott, Karen Thornton, and Orrin Olsen. 

In addition to his duties at Ellicott Mills, Dr. Roberts is a member of the Washington (DC) Ballet Orchestra, the Pine Mountain (Michigan) Music Festival, and a free-lance hornist in the Baltimore and Washington area.  He has performed with the Baltimore Opera, the National Philharmonic, and the Fairfax and Annapolis Symphony Orchestras.

Ben Denne: Orchestra, String Instruments

Ben Denne is a graduate of Northwestern University where he studied Euphonium performance with Rex Martin and conducting with Mallory Thompson. He received a bachelor of music degree with an emphasis in both performance and education.

Mr. Denne directs the orchestra programs at Ellicott Mills and Howard High Schools. He is the brass specialist and assistant conductor of the Howard County High School Gifted and Talented Orchestra (formerly the Howard Regional Youth Orchestra). Ben maintains a small studio of private students on euphonium, trombone, and tuba, performs with the Greenspring Valley Orchestra on trombone and string bass, and performs as a bass soloist at the Zion Lutheran church.
